With my daughter it has always been clear that we would have a dog one day.
She wished for a dog since years and tried with passion to convince me. But as a dog is a lot of responsibility, she had to have a very good average at school in order to fulfill her dream. I wanted her to work like crazy in order to let her know how much work a dog is. Furthermore, I would have loved her to take care of a dog of another family sometimes, but we did not have friends with a dog.
Anyway, she improved her marks a lot during the years and when she almost reached the average she had to have, we moved to another city and she changed school. Thus, she had to adapt herself to a very different system and her average worsened again. The poor girl studied a lot, but it wasn’t easy for her at the new school.
Corona – Kids are the people suffering the most
In any part of the world, there is Covid. We are all living very special times and my daughter and me stay home a lot. We always wear masks in public and she has homeschooling. The hardest part was the lockdown for almost three months – Spain had one of the strictest lockdowns in the world!
My little (big) girl hasn’t played with any child since then and ended elementary school virtually. I really did not know how to ease her pain of feeling alone and we did not travel to our home country Germany for the first time since our moving 4 1/2 years ago. Endless weeks in summer vacations with loneliness waited for her while seeing people around us breaking the rules, children playing as if nothing had happened.
Thus, I decided to let a dog move in without reaching the average marks I had wanted her to reach. We would have so much time in summer in order to educate the puppy – There wouldn’t be a better time for a little new family member.
Our garden is neither small nor big, but it offers a lot of space to run if there was another lockdown..
