Day 4 – Xana does not like cars
The fourth day started nicely with a very well rested dog-kid and a energetic border collie lady. Quiet and satisfied, there was a lot of cuddling between the two of them, even if Xana still wanted to nip a little. After both were ready for new adventures, we went into the garden. Xana didn't feel like playing, but decided to chew her bones instead.
First bark of Xana
Xana's first bark was triggered by the neighbors' trampoline squeaking loudly. The dog-kid had completely ignored her own trampoline for the last few days due to the little furry friend, but Xana definitely had to get used to this noise. "No", was the reaction to her first woof. The first woof wasn't the last of the day. The little lady discovered new corners in the garden that were right next to the street. From there she could watch very strange things with four wheels that we moving - cars!
Scary things with four wheels – Xana is confused by the cars
When she saw the cars for the first time, she considered barking out loud at annoying things like that. She wanted them to leave, but well... It didn't work and so she kept increasing her volume until the dog-kid took action. "No," she said sternly and there was silence for a few seconds. But then Xana barked louder. After about twenty strict "noes", she finally gave up and turned her attention to the pool. These white sticks just looked too tasty and so she had another goal for the moment.
Again she was being scolded, but the dog-kid offered her her lap in order to give her a nice alternative plan.
Xana has to be trained everyday
Every day, the dog-kid had to do at least two training sessions with Xana. We wanted her to listen well. With wonderful treats it worked well. Today she dominates her name and the command "sit down". As soon as we call Xana, her gaze immediately meets our direction. Border collies are rumored to be the smartest dogs in the world. And of course our Xana was one of the 1% of the smartest ones... :D
It is a beautiful experience to see how quickly such little puppies are able to learn with a consistent upbringing. For Xana obedience seemed delicious with treats, but she also always seemed super satisfied when she just received positive feedback and kind words.
