Day 5 – Xana visits the vet
Xana has been a lot of energy since day one and loves the garden. That was surely inherited from her herding mother. She still doesn't relax at all without being in the box, but we set a schedule for her. So don't overdrive them. The up to 22 hours rest time does not work, however she definitely has 20 hours of rest time.
Daily training of Xana
The dog-kid has to learn that targeted workouts are good for efficiently teaching Xana the most important basic commands. Xana shows will to please from the start and tries to understand what the dog-kid wants from her. "Sit you" works really well. In the meantime, loving pats are enough as a reward. Besides we have the tasty treats - She can't get enough of them!
Today waited another thing to discover - The vet!
Xana travels in car for the second time
With Xana in her box and armed with delicious treats, Xana was placed into the back seat. Confused, she looked around and whined a bit. What is the dog owner planning to do with her? Because of Corona, I decided that the dog-kid would stay at home. The fewer fur noses and people there were at the vet the better.
The travel worked perfectly. Xana peeed a little which is probably normal. The box was also a little too slippery for the poor bitch and I decided that the next time I went shopping, an anti-slip mat would be bought.
The curves towards the vet were gentle. The vet had been recommended by the previous owner and after parking the car I was excited to enter with the uncomfortable box in my arms.
Xana behaves like an angel
When Xana is scared, she never tries to bite anyone or anything. That's why she behaved really well. A young veterinarian looked at the little creature and assured that everything was fine with her. Instead of the second vaccination, she had to have a treatment first and I was asked to bring something from her daily "business" over to see whether she was successfully dewormed.
Unfortunately, Xana was not allowed to go for walks yet. For that, she needed her vaccinations. However, Xana was shining on the treatment table. She lay there quietly and watched what was happening skeptically. The tablet that the vet put into her mouth didn't taste that good. But she endured it with a disgusted look.
Xana goes back home
So after the treatment we went home again. The return journey went just as well as the first journey. No, it worked even better. She didn't yelp at all and jumped out of the box overjoyed when we finally got home.
The dog-kid heard enthusiastically that everything was okay with the puppy and we encouraged Xana to sleep after long cuddles. Such an exciting visit must have made her tired!
