Our day 1 ended with some fights and started again in day 2 as soon as we played with Xana. The dog-kid is a track and field athlete and that's why she went out into the garden running with Xana from day 1. Finally, she saw her partner who would hold out with her within reach and the little puppy was supposed to run after her.
As many can imagine Xana was confused. What did this running person want from her? She wasn't interested in a specific route, but the dog-kid's legs were running prey that were fun to chase after. The dog-kid cried out in horror and ran in panic towards the front door. "Mom, Xana bit," she screamed and I looked directly at the spot. Fortunately, as a ten-week puppy Xana couldn't make much damage - and nothing was visible either. “It's a puppy! Your task is to show her what she is allowed to do and what she is not allowed to do. "
The dog-mum’s fight against nipping
I calmly went to the little dog that was sitting where the dog-kid left it and stared at me confused. Far away from Xana and me, the dog-kid followed me with a skeptical look.
I caressed the little puppy as she already had received negative feedback for her nipping. Then I played with her a little wilder and she decided that my feet looked tasty enough to try them. Her nip did not hurt, but I tried to yelp out loudly in pain as real as I was able to. The neighbor's look in horror flashes in my direction. It was enough to make my neighbor look up. I also demonstratively turn away from her and once again she looks sad and confused.
After a break the training continues and this time my pants are her new goal. Again I whine loudly and I interrupted to game again. I repeated the training several times and then let Xana rest. A mini lady like that can't pay hours of attention, but she would receive tons of anti-bite-training-units from now onwards.
Xana likes to be close to us
For now the dog-kid did not want to play outside with Xana. So we cuddled for hours without going into the garden, because when Xana was calm she did not want to nip. Shaking my head, I talked to the stubborn girl whom I gleefully condemned to wipe away pee in the living room after a few hours. I laughed in secret as she had received her punishment for staying in the house for so many hours.
New motivation for a quiet game
The dog-kid came to me to the kitchen and informed me that she had finally found a game for Xana and herself. I waited anxiously for the performance she wanted to show me. She sat down on the yard and Xana lay down next to her in a shady place. "And what kind of game is that?" I ask confused. With a big grin, she explains to me that she's teaching Xana to relax. She also proudly shows me several things that she packed in the shopping cart on Amazon. “Such toys would be awesome,” she explains to me.
The witch-hour of Xana at night
Xana is getting bitchier at night and reminds me of the dog-kid. “But she doesn't want to sleep,” the dog-kid explained to me. “She really likes it out here.” Maybe, but small children also like to stay awake when they're super tired. So Xana had to go into the box and the whining was consistently ignored. Let's see if this parenting method leads to more sleep.
