The third day was really nice, probably also because Xana finally slept more and thus, she was more relaxed. Nonetheless, there was a lot to do in the short time she was active. She wanted to discover the world!
A little corner in the garden as a toilet
Since Xana is still missing vaccinations, we haven't taken a walk on the streets yet. In addition, our house is next to an industrial area and some cars drive here very fast So we started to practice walking in the garden. Fortunately, our garden is quite large which is why there was so much for Xana to discover. We decided to give Xana a little corner in the garden and the purchase of a dog toilet was planned.
Of course we wanted to spend a wonderful time with Xana in nature as soon as the vaccinations were given and she had a microchip inserted, but to be honest, it doesn't make much difference whether I clear the dog poop off the busy street and in the park or in the garden in everyday life . In a few weeks I will tell you about my experience!
The dog-kid shows the toilet to the Border Collie puppy
Xana has only peed twice inside the house and I am proud of her. Since the first accident, the dog-kid was totally motivated to teach the Border Collie lady to do everything outside in the corner as she hates to clean the floor. On the 3rd day Xana is very close to the corner already. Since she is still young and has to learn, we don't scold her if she finishes her business a little further away.
I laughed a lot when the dog-kid threw away the first poop of Xana. With a disgusted face and a poop bag, she definitely wasn't enjoying what she was doing...
Cool treats for the training sessions
Up until now we have always practiced with dry food and homemade treats, but since today we have these totally delicious treats in our house, but as we don't want Xana to be overweight, there is only one bag a week. Thus, the dog-kid has to be careful when to give them.
We practiced her name and to sit (which previously did not work at all with the dry food). Xana loves the new treats and she tries anything to get a treat. Wow, after three minutes she completely understood the exercise and was very enthusiastic about sitting.
The dog-kid would have loved to repeat "sit" a thousand times, but she noticed that Xana's concentration was decreasing and played a bit with her. A hardworking girl doesn't have to be rewarded with food only, it wants to play a lot!
Xana needs to sleep a lot
Aside from going for a walk, practicing the name and seat, the little Border Collie lady enthusiastically chewed on her bone. Otherwise she actually slept all day - she's still a baby. In love, the dog-kid sat near the basket and quietly watched her new friend. After the first nipping-attacks she was totally happy again that her greatest wish had come true - a four-legged friend!
In the evening before I went to bed and the dog-kid was already asleep, I encouraged Xana to go out again, so she could still do urgent business in the garden. :D Reluctantly and unmotivated, she padded outside. She sniffed and tried to play with me, but she didn't want to do anything else.
Thus, my little sweetie had to go to sleep again!
