In Claudia Kaiser's book, there is basic advice on puppies in general and Border Collies in particular. There are tips about the time before the purchase and about the first few weeks after the Border Collie moves in. Particularly problematic behaviors due to the hunting instinct, biting, jumping, restlessness, fear of driving and destructiveness are pointed out. In the end the e-book deals with the positive and negative characteristics of Border Collies which must be taken into account when training and which differ from general puppy training. The author also explains the most important commands that the dog has to master and how the hierarchy is simply determined. The hunting instinct, probably the most problematic behavior of the Border Collie, is explained in a separate chapter. There are also tips about buying a dog.
Personal opinion
I liked the book right from the start as the author starts with the character description of the Border Collie. There was no historical background in this book, but x websides are available on that in the Internet. The author explains what is particularly important to learn so that the Border Collie listens well. I read the book with a lot of grin, because I recognized our Border Collie bitch in many situations. The author's methods are somewhat “stricter” than in some other books, but she also works almost exclusively with positive conditioning and without any pain. From the beginning to the end the author describes the Border Collie with its weaknesses and strengths in individual situations and gives specific advice for the breed. I saw some of my behaviors from a different perspective and learned something new. I had read many general guides before, but this book gave me some rally nice tips for Xana. The book focuses on puppy training, but there is also an advanced book for adult border collies.
Would I recommend the E-Book?
Yes, I would! This guide is perfect for everyone who wants a comprehensive, but not too detailed book about Border Collies. I felt that the author really is a dog trainer with tons of experience. All of the problems we have experienced with our Xana were mentioned here. It is not a "complete" education book, it really only deals with the education of border collie puppies. In addition, only commands that are important in everyday life are explained in detail here (seat, down, heel, etc.), but especially at the beginning anyone should concentrate on the most important terms anyway.
